Snowboarders Save Stranded Horse From Freezing To Death
The normal temperature in horses is between 37.5 and 38°C. Just like humans horses can adapt to any weather, but only to some extent. They must be treated carefully during winter. It is true that their attitude and their ability withstand cold depends on the type of horse we are talking about and their age.
There are many horses that can withstand temperature of -10 without any problems. However, the situation becomes different when there is snow around. The moisture from the snow can penetrate their skin and enter the system. This makes the horses feel much colder in a relatively short period of time.
This is exactly what happened to this horse stuck in the Chilean Andes. Luckily for him, these two snowboarders who decided to visit the Andes as part of a birthday celebration found him.
Just like most animals, horses try to save themselves as much as they can but when they figure out that there is no way out they simply give up.
However, the snowboarders cleared the snow and the horse was able to walk again. Once it was free, he started following the snowboarders to their base. via: thedodo
